Crisis & Issues Management

While the world is constantly changing, we can help you protect your most important asset: your reputation. You spend years building it and establishing your brand, then overnight everything changes and, for the wrong reason, your company is in the spotlight.

At FleishmanHillard Fishburn we have decades of experience helping CEOs and their teams mitigate, prepare for and react to change. Drawing on our crisis management approach, or A.R.C.™ methodology, we have helped steer a number of leading brands and organisations through a host of reputation-changing communication issues – from fatal workplace accidents, management-labour disputes and litigation to executive changes, government investigations, product failures and recalls. We have also helped a diverse range of businesses and public-sector bodies prepare for and manage data security incidents including data breaches.

Our experience

Preparing a global beauty brand to defend its reputation

FHF has worked with a global cosmetic and skin care company for a number of years, providing strategic advice on issues facing the business as well as assisting the business in developing and strengthening its crisis preparation capabilities.

Most recently, we have developed the business’s crisis communications plan which is being rolled out globally. In addition, we’ve also developed a programme to help embed the crisis plan across the different markets where there is huge variance in resource and capability.

Running a 24-7 crisis line and response capability in a high-risk industry

For our client in the aviation sector, spotting emerging risks and quickly addressing them is crucial. This is why we run a dedicated crisis line which is used by airport teams to flag emerging issues and access immediate triage from FHF. This response capability has been used for emergency issues ranging from accidents to health and safety issues.

As well as managing the press office, we also advise on social media exposure, partner relations and stakeholder management.

Preparing for a high profile high court case

We helped a multi-national plan and prepare for a high-profile court case in the High Court. Our brief was to ensure the business was on the front foot and the damage to its reputation minimised.

Our work included detailed scenario mapping, development of the comms plan and development of key documents. We also trained senior executives in the event they needed to front media interviews and developed and ran a crisis simulation to ensure the business was able to flex and adapt its comms approach as the court case progressed.

Our cyber security crisis expertise

FleishmanHillard is one of the only global communications agencies to have a dedicated cybersecurity practice. This function centralises and cements our cyber expertise and means we are able to draw on a wide range of experience and expertise relating to cyber-attacks, data loss and leaks.

We are also the global crisis communications partner for a number of the world’s largest insurers and claims management specialists. Working alongside forensic IT and legal counsel, we have helped a broad range of organisations across many industries prepare for and handle data breaches.
