As a team, all the brilliantly talented, unique individuals that work at FHF deliver amazing work for our clients.
Each person’s individual strengths, passions and ambitions are what makes FHF an incredible agency, a diverse talent pool of creative minds solving complex communications challenges and a certified ‘Best Place to Work’.
We asked corporate account manager, Glesni Thomas to shed some light on what it’s like for her to work at FHF London, what she includes in her new working from home ritual and her advice for others trying to get into the PR industry.
Hi Glesni! What has been your new WFH ritual?
Meditation, even if for 3-10 minutes, once a day. I highly recommend the Headspace app!
What new skill have you flexed in lockdown?
Resistance training – I’m still not an expert but was always too scared to try it previously, sticking to cardio. My little dumbbells are now slowly becoming my pals!
What shows have you been binging on lately?
The Alienist, Dark, as well as old episodes of Waking The Dead
What do you love about working at FHF?
It’s brilliant – and I’m not just saying it. I only joined 5 weeks before lockdown kicked in, but the warm welcome from the team meant I felt ‘at home’ quickly – and not only in the literal sense!
What’s the most valuable skill used in your role?
Can I pick two? I’d say relationship building (with clients, journalists, colleagues) along with time management.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
Seeing your idea come to life – either through coverage by a journalist or through developments taking place across client projects
What’s your advice to someone wanting to get into the industry?
It sounds obvious – but simply to research as much as possible about PR and Comms. Consider:
- The news agenda (does it interest you? After all, media relations is a key part of PR work);
- Agency or in-house (serving the needs of one business, or that of multiple clients?);
- Sector specialisms (are you a generalist or do you have a stand-out industry, such as financial services?)
- Internal or external (are you more excited by employee engagement and change management comms, or bolstering external reputation?)
What’s your go-to karaoke tune?
I’ll more likely be at the bar than behind the mic – I only sing in choirs!
